Urban Decay Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches
Urban Decay never fails to disappoint when it comes to holiday and limited edition products! I have a feeling the new Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette is going to be on a lot of holiday wish lists this year! This palette was made for girls (and guys) who love color and shimmer.
The palette comes with twenty brand new shades – all metallic and all inspired by heavy metal music (commences headbanging)… There are ten brights on the left side and ten neutrals on the right side. I really like these colors – and I find them to be more fun than plain ole glitter. Glitter is great too – but metallics really pop when they catch the light. Hey – if you want to be extra, go for both (I’ll be reviewing the Heavy Metals glitter liquid eyeliners soon!).
The palette slides completely out of the purple metal sleeve, and was intended to function like a painter’s palette (with a mirror in the middle). I think there’s either going to be a love it or hate it reaction to this type of palette. I am so used to having a palette that closes from the top, so this feels different. If you try to use it by sliding one section out, you’re going to be annoyed. So just slide the whole thing out, paint your face, and then put it back for safe-keeping.
Now let’s get to the colors, shall we? As mentioned, these are ALL metallic, so either you can go full on glam with a range of metallics for one eye look, or you can use these as highlights and lid toppers for your matte looks (my personal preference).
Left side:
- Ground (black w/iridescent shimmer)
- Spandex (deep blue with purple shift and blue micro-sparkle)
- Metalhead (deep purple)
- Mullet (deep green)
- Twisted (gold)
- Aluminum (warm gray-taupe with iridescent micro-sparkle)
- Dive (medium blue)
- Punk Rock (fuchsia)
- Amp (bright teal)
- Glamrock (silver)
Right side:
- Bass (bronze)
- Demo (bronze-rose)
- Afterparty (red)
- Roadie (burgundy)
- Scream (mauve)
- Glory (golden bronze)
- Starfire (bright copper)
- Angelfire (pale pink)
- Maiden (beige)
- Acoustic (nude)
Lots of close-up pics and swatches below! If you’re an Urban Decay fan or a metallic eyeshadow fan, let me know if you’ll be picking the Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette up!
